Tucson, or the Old Pueblo (nicknamed for its original walled presidio) is steeped in Spanish and Indian Culture. Tucson was known as Chuk Shon by the Pima Indians. (Interpretive translation: “Spring at the foot of a Black Mountain”, referring to the Santa Cruz River that follows an uneven above-and-below ground flow.) The word became anglicized as Tucson.

Tucson has a blend of Old and New Culture. It is one of 14 cities to boast of having it’s own resident Symphony. There is the Opera, Ballet and Theater.

Tucson is home to University of Arizona, the Sonoran Desert Museum, and Saguaro National Park.

You'll find pristine Golf Courses throughout the city, Hiking in the hills surrounding the area, and hundreds of miles of Bike Paths in this bicycle-friendly town.

There's major league baseball. Three teams (Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox) conduct spring training right here in Tucson. And the Tucson Sidewinders minor league team plays in Tucson Electric Park during the regular season.

Because of Tucson's clear skies and starry nights, the Kitt Peak National Observatory calls Tucson home.
